Mindset Monday 001 – Intro

I am beginning a different segment in this website blog, to talk about a few things that are very important to me. These segments will be called: MINDSET MONDAYS. This is something that really interests me and I love to talk about.

Most people that know me, only know the liquor-side of the business that I normally cover in my content. This is what I know, and have worked in for some time now. There is another side of me, the emotional side, that I’d like to share and have discussion on with you. Do not get me wrong, the spirits world is a fascinating one and I am extremely grateful to be a part of it! It is just that there is much more to my story than just drinks, whiskey, rum (my favorite), and winning a cocktail competition.

It has been a few years since I have been focused on becoming an entrepreneur. Business has always fascinated me as well as investments. I love having investments of all types, and my dream is to create a strong portfolio for myself to be able to retire my parents from their jobs, after all that they have given me in this lifetime so far.

Entrepreneurship is not an easy task, and that is why most people do not start their own businesses. It is a feeling that even I carry. The uncertainty of being the “only one” in the family to start something different, to THINK differently, is not an easy burden to carry. It seems as though everyone is against you, or it can be very lonely at times.

My family is from Colombia, and they are all hard workers. My grandfather was the president of the Medellin workers’ Union. He fought hard for the rights of the employees at one of the largest glassworks corporations in all of Colombia. A truly strong leader, in fact.

I admire all of those in the workforce, the employees. Employees, and especially good ones… are the driving force to the greatest organizations on the planet. With all of the respect I have for them and their beliefs, it is just not for me. Not my life.

I know many will read that, and be offended. It is quite simply the reality that we are in. Not that being an employee is bad or anything, it is just that it doesn’t work for everybody. Better yet, being an entrepreneur just MAKES SENSE for others, and comes almost naturally. Now, just because it comes naturally doesn’t mean it is EASY, either!

I am 23 years young, and I have been able to talk to some amazing entrepreneurs from different industries. One of the messages that resonate with every single one of them is this: WORK ETHIC. Being willing to work, do whatever is necessary, is integral to the entrepreneur’s mindset.

I am just getting started on my journey. Being an entrepreneur doesn’t happen overnight,  and I am willing, ready, and patient to find my way in this world. To set my legacy for my children and family. This is only the beginning, and an exciting time to be alive!

Being a very spiritual guy, God is and has always been my light. He guides me to great things, as He does unto others. Whether you believe in God, or the universe, or just nothing at all… the power is there. A power greater than us, that allows each and every one of us to create our realities… but of course this is something we may discuss on future posts!

For now, I just wanted to introduce and do my best to scrape the surface of how my mind works. That way, we can understand each other as we keep talking shop about cocktails, spirits categories, wine, and much much more.

Thank you, and SALUD!
