This is an “up” Manhattan substitute. I love rum, and would suggest this one with a dark Jamaican rum, to really round out some great flavors together.
The Pirate’s cocktail (rum manhattan) would work lovely with a rum like Rhum Clement’s
RECIPE
3oz (90mL) dark Jamaican rum — Appleton Estate 12 year, for example
1oz (30mL) sweet vermouth
1 dash angostura bitters
Place all ingredients together in a mixing glass, and stir for about 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube.
No specific garnish for this cocktail.
