El Presidente rum cocktail… this is one of my all-time favorites. When I am not in the mood for an ice-cold daiquiri, this one is perfect for the rainy days.
HISTORY
This cocktail is a Cuban classic, and is named after President Gerardo Machado, who ruled Cuba during the Prohibition era. Americans flocked to Cuba during prohibition to be able to drink in peace, and enjoy an exotic culture that is Cuba.
El Presidente cocktail has had a few shifts in methodology unfortunately throughout the years, but nonetheless, is a classic to behold as a crowd-pleaser for those people who prefer the dry, simple, elegant drinks bars have to offer (i.e. – manhattan and old fashioned drinkers).
RECIPE
As we said earlier, the recipe has changed drastically over the years, but this is the best recipe, elegant in its simplicity.
